The Dorset Care Awards, taking place on the 8th May, celebrate the very best in care across Dorset, and it means a lot to see their work in homecare in Bournemouth and Poole acknowledged in this way.
Supporting the local community through proactive care
Their Innovation Award nomination reflects the way the team are thinking differently about how they support people, not just clients receiving care at home, but the wider community too.
Over the past year, the Bournemouth and Poole team have been offering free digital health checks at local events.
These simple checks include things like blood pressure, oxygen levels, temperature and more, helping people better understand their health in a relaxed and informal setting.
The response from the community has been really positive. Many people have welcomed the opportunity to check in on their health and have a conversation with someone who can explain what the results mean.
In some cases, it has also helped highlight when further medical advice might be needed, giving people the confidence to take the next step.
These checks form part of the wider GoodOaks Approach, where we focus on being proactive rather than reactive.
Alongside digital monitoring, clients also benefit from access to a Virtual GP service, offering 24/7 support from qualified clinicians, as well as GP Connect, which allows us to securely share important health information with GP systems.
Together, this helps us deliver more joined-up, personalised homecare in Dorset.
Celebrating a rising star
We’re equally proud to see Rumbi Mhunduru, Care Coordinator at GoodOaks Bournemouth and Poole, shortlisted for the Rising Star Award.
Rumbie joined the team in 2023 and has quickly grown within the branch, moving from a live-in care role into the office where she now supports both clients and care professionals. She’s someone people naturally trust, bringing warmth, calm and genuine care into everything she does.
What stands out most is how she goes beyond her role to support others. From helping new care professionals settle into life in the UK, to making sure clients receive the care they need quickly and safely, Rumbie consistently shows what great care at home looks like in practice.
A proud moment for the team
Being recognised as finalists is something the whole Bournemouth and Poole team can be proud of.
It reflects not just individual achievements, but a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate homecare in Bournemouth and Poole.
We’re looking forward to celebrating with others across the sector on 8 May and wish all finalists the very best of luck.
