Our Community Wellbeing Lead, Rachel Davies, recently joined the ‘Together for Health’ event to offer free health checks and meet the local community.
Free community health checks give people a quick, easy way to understand their health, without needing an appointment. They also open the door to conversations that might not happen otherwise.
That’s why GoodOaks Homecare Bournemouth and Poole was proud to take part in ‘Together for Health’ recently.

Together for Health: Free community health checks in Bournemouth and Poole
‘Together for Health’ was a community insight and engagement event, organised by BPC Indian Community in partnership with Community Action Network and Dorset HealthCare. The aim was simple. Give people a relaxed, welcoming space to share their experiences, ask questions and talk openly about health, wellbeing and access to services.
There was plenty going on, from yoga and dance to delicious food made by local volunteers. It was a warm, friendly day with a real sense of community.
Free health checks on the day
Rachel Davies, Community Wellbeing Lead at GoodOaks Homecare Bournemouth and Poole, spent the day offering free health checks alongside the team from LiveWell Dorset.
Using the Whzan Blue Box, Rachel checked people’s blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen levels, breathing rate and temperature in just a few minutes. Each person came away with a clearer picture of their health, and lots of good conversations followed about staying well and where to find local support.
It’s the same technology our care professionals use for the free health checks we offer to our clients at home.
Why partnership matters
When community groups and local services work together, support becomes easier to access for everyone. People feel heard, and services gain a better understanding of what their community really needs.
For GoodOaks Homecare, being part of local life is at the heart of what we do. Partnership is one of the core values behind The GoodOaks Way, and events like this are a lovely reminder of why.
A big thank you to BPC Indian Community for inviting us, to CAN and Dorset HealthCare for bringing everyone together, and to LiveWell Dorset for working alongside us.
