This exciting public art event is set to transform Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole into a colourful outdoor gallery, all in support of Julia’s House children’s hospice.
The local team is always looking for ways to give back to their community, and this fantastic initiative allows them to do just that. They’re sponsoring one of the 40 artist-designed mermaid tail sculptures, which will be displayed across the region from 5 April to 1 June 2025, before being auctioned to raise funds for seriously ill children and their families.
Celebrating ‘Tallulah’s Tail’
To mark the launch of their sponsored sculpture, the team hosted a celebratory event at their Bourne Valley Road office, bringing together care teams, clients, friends, and supporters. The afternoon was filled with refreshments, cake, and inspiring talks from the management team and Julia’s House Public Fundraising Manager, Laura Maidment.
They were also delighted to reveal the name of the mermaid tail – ‘Tallulah’s Tail’, dedicated in memory of someone very special. While the event was a celebration of community, creativity, and charity, they also took a moment to honour Tallulah and the lasting impact she had on those around her.
Why this means so much
GoodOaks are dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care that enables people to live well in their own homes. They understand the vital role that specialist care and support play in the lives of families, which is why the branch are so passionate about supporting Julia’s House and the incredible work they do. Martin Edwards, CEO of Julia’s House, explained: “We rely on public support to provide our critical care, and each year we need to raise more funds to ensure we can continue to be there for every family that needs us. The Great Tail Trail will help us reach people and businesses who don’t yet know about the lifeline of care we provide in the local community.
We chose the mermaid tail sculpture because we have a ‘Mermaid Suite’ at our Dorset hospice, where we look after children at the end of their lives and support their families – it felt important to connect the trail directly to our care.”
Get involved in The Great Tail Trail!

“Being involved in such a wonderful opportunity to support Julia’s House feels like a real honour for everyone at our branch. We can’t wait to see the trail in action and enjoy it with our family and friends.”
