That’s why we’re incredibly proud of our Mid Sussex branch, who last week, played a key role in the VE Day celebrations in Burgess Hill. The event, held in the heart of the town, brought the community together to honour the bravery and sacrifices of the Second World War generation – and our team was right there in the middle of it all.
Not only did the Mid Sussex team sponsor the event, they were also invited to serve as judges for the cake competition. Alongside the Mayor of Burgess Hill and a representative from the Women’s Institute, they took on the tough (and tasty!) task of choosing the best bake – a lovely way to engage with the community and support local talent.
In the lead-up to the big day, the branch got hands-on with event preparations, helping bring everything together behind the scenes. On the day itself, they enjoyed conversations with attendees and representatives from MSOPC (Mid Sussex Older People’s Council), whose work aligns closely with our own mission to support and empower older people.
To top it all off, their efforts didn’t go unnoticed – the event featured on ITV News Meridian at 6pm, giving the wider region a chance to see the heart and dedication of our Mid Sussex branch in action.
We’re thrilled to see our Mid Sussex team embodying the GoodOaks values and their involvement in events like these is a testament to how care extends beyond the home and into the heart of the community.
Well done to everyone at GoodOaks Mid Sussex – you’ve made us all incredibly proud.
