At GoodOaks Homecare Northwood and Ruislip, we are passionate about bringing our community together to learn, share, and support one another. Our recent Coffee Morning was a warm, meaningful, and thought-provoking event, offering a powerful insight into Alzheimer’s and the challenges faced by individuals and families living with this condition.
We were delighted to welcome Julia James from the Alzheimer’s Society, who delivered an engaging and informative presentation.
She shared practical guidance alongside a deeper understanding of dementia, helping attendees better appreciate both the emotional and day-to-day realities of Alzheimer’s, as well as the vital role of support for carers and families.
A particularly moving moment came from the widow of someone affected by Alzheimer’s, who shared her personal story with honesty and strength. Her experience highlighted the importance of compassion, connection, and the incredible support provided by the Alzheimer’s Society.
The event also encouraged open and valuable conversations, with attendees learning more about local dementia-friendly initiatives and support services across Hillingdon.
For some, it was their first introduction to upcoming dementia events in the area, helping them feel more informed and connected to local support.
Supporting the Alzheimer’s Society through community fundraising
We are also incredibly proud to share that, together, we raised over £200 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
We are grateful to everyone who donated and supported this important cause – your generosity will help continue the essential work supporting people living with dementia and their families.
At GoodOaks Homecare Northwood and Ruislip, we remain committed to delivering person-centred care with dignity, respect, and kindness at the heart of everything we do. Events like this help raise awareness, encourage open conversations, and remind families that they are never alone on their journey.
