One of the things we see time and again the across GoodOaks Homecare network is how our teams support clients to continue doing what matters to them, not just what is practical or necessary.
A great example of this comes from one of our team in South Oxfordshire, supporting a client who makes blankets for the premature baby unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital. With the support of her live-in care professional, she has been able to continue this work, creating handmade blankets that are donated directly to the unit.
The team helps with the practical elements, from setting up materials to making sure she is comfortable and supported while she works. This has allowed her to stay involved in something that is meaningful to her, while also contributing to families and staff at the JR Hospital.
This is a simple but powerful example of person centred care in action. By taking the time to understand what matters to someone, the branch help clients maintain purpose, independence and a sense of connection beyond their own home.
We’re very grateful to the client for allowing us to share her story, and proud of the South Oxfordshire team for the thoughtful, respectful way they support her to continue making a difference.
