New care company that started at the height of the pandemic praised at its first inspection.

GoodOaks Homecare in East Dorset received a ‘Good’ rating across the board from the Government’s inspection body the Care Quality Commission or CQC.

The organisation, which provides live in and visiting care for clients across Wimborne, Ferndown, Ringwood, West Moors, Fordingbridge and the surrounding area, was found to be safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led in the report by the CQC.

Co-directors, Sam Jones and Adam Downer, started their care business in the Pandemic and praised their team for their caring work over the past year and a half. They said: “We are over the moon with our rating, and we couldn’t have got our Good rating without the hard work and dedication of all our employees. The Pandemic has been tough on everyone, and especially clients who have been isolated – we are so proud to have helped them through with a caring service that puts people at its heart.”

The report praised the team and the care they gave, the report states: “People consistently spoke positively about the care they receive, felt involved in decisions and had their privacy, dignity and independence respected. Staff were described as being, “very caring” and “kind” to people as well as their relatives. Staff knew people well and provided care that reflected the individual’s needs, choices and lifestyle.”

The report went on to say that: “Staff knew people well, which meant they were able to recognise and respond to their changing care needs and worked alongside other professionals to ensure effective care. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice

“Staff spoke positively about the organisation, communication and said they worked well as a team. Staff said they were confident in making suggestions and felt very supported by their colleagues and the management team.”
