Managing with confidence to support strong leadership in homecare

At GoodOaks Homecare, providing outstanding homecare starts with strong leadership. That’s why we invest heavily in training for our Registered Managers, Franchise Partners and Deputy Managers.

GoodOaks Homecare Leadership

Our “Manage with Confidence” course is designed to support leaders across our network to develop the knowledge, judgement and practical skills needed to guide care professionals and maintain the highest standards of care.

This three-day, in-house training programme reflects The GoodOaks Way by focusing on people, partnership and continuous improvement. It brings together Registered Managers and Deputy Managers from across the network to share experiences, strengthen their leadership skills and build confidence in managing complex situations within homecare services.

Developing confident homecare leaders

The course begins by exploring the role of the Registered Manager and what great leadership looks like in homecare. Through discussions around management styles, participants reflect on how different approaches can support care professionals, maintain quality and create positive working cultures within their branches.

Strong leadership is essential in homecare, where managers must balance operational responsibilities, regulatory requirements and the wellbeing of both clients and care professionals. The course helps leaders develop the confidence to lead effectively while maintaining the compassionate, person-centred approach that GoodOaks Homecare is known for.

Practical learning through real scenarios

A key feature of the training is scenario-led discussion, allowing participants to work through real-life challenges that can arise in homecare services. These sessions encourage open conversation, problem solving and the sharing of best practice between managers.

Topics include handling complex situations, crisis management and ensuring safe and effective care delivery. By discussing real examples, managers leave the course better prepared to support their teams and respond confidently to challenges.

Preparing for CQC inspections

Regulation plays an important role in maintaining high-quality homecare. During the course, participants take part in a CQC inspection role play, helping them understand what inspectors look for and how to evidence excellent care.

This practical exercise helps managers feel more prepared and confident when supporting their teams during inspections, ensuring that the quality of care delivered by GoodOaks care professionals is clearly demonstrated.

Strengthening knowledge of legislation and best practice

The programme also covers key areas of legislation, guidance and compliance that are essential for running a safe and effective homecare service. This includes learning around:

  • PRN protocols
  • Mental capacity and decision making
  • Medication compliance
  • CQC reporting and evidencing quality care
  • Creating service improvement plans

By strengthening knowledge in these areas, our managers are better equipped to maintain safe, compliant and person-centred homecare services.

Learning that makes a real difference

Feedback from participants shows just how valuable the course has been for our managers:

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and found it very useful.”

“Overall great experience and all went above and beyond.”

“Nice course, lots of knowledge and discussions, thanks ladies.”

“An amazing course, so far my favourite.”

Managers highlighted several key areas that they found particularly useful, including creating service improvement plans, improving medication compliance, understanding PRN protocols, evidencing quality care and strengthening CQC reporting knowledge.
