On Saturday, March 29, we hosted a free coffee morning to mark Mother’s Day, welcoming guests for a relaxed morning of conversation, activities, and good company. The morning featured a performance from the choir of St. John the Evangelist in Lostock Gralam, who sang hymns celebrating love and motherhood.
Guests enjoyed cream cakes and had the opportunity to make handmade Mother’s Day cards!
Strengthening community connections
With over 40% of people aged over 65 experiencing loneliness, according to Age UK Cheshire, we recognise the importance of creating social opportunities. At GoodOaks, we aim to help make Northwich a more dementia-friendly town and provide spaces where people can come together and feel part of a supportive community.
This event was particularly meaningful as it was supported by three generations of our director Jane Carolan’s family. Her mother, Joyce Kenrick, and her daughter, Naomi Carolan – who is expecting a child in May – helped make the day special.
Jane said, “Our goal at GoodOaks is to provide a welcoming space where people can connect and enjoy meaningful moments together,” said Jane. “Mother’s Day was a great opportunity to do just that.”
Looking ahead
GoodOaks Mid Cheshire continues to promote well-being and support those in need through various initiatives. Whether through community events or our ongoing efforts to reduce loneliness, we’re committed to making a positive difference.
