Last week, the team at GoodOaks Homecare – Bedford pulled off an incredible fundraising event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, raising a whopping £1,430 to support individuals affected by cancer.
The event, held at the Bromham Village Hall on Village Road, MK43, saw a fantastic turnout of community members and local leaders.
In attendance were Bedford MP Mohammad Yasin, Bedford Mayor Tom Wootton, and local councillors, including Cllr Caroline White (Kempston Central & East Ward) and Cllr Ralley Rahman (Kingsbrook Ward). The afternoon was further supported by Siam Sian Woodfine, Chair of Bromham Parish Council, along with many loyal clients of the GoodOaks branch and local residents who came out to show their support.
As well as being a great opportunity to get the community together, it was a chance to showcase local baking talents, with a bake off. Some tasty creations included victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and marble cake!
Speaking about the importance of the event, GoodOaks Director Shaz Islam said: “Cancer has affected most of us in some way and it was important for me to help raise funds and awareness of the amazing work Macmillan do. We are committed to charity fundraising for organisations in Bedford and the surrounding communities.”
The event was not just a success in terms of fundraising but was also a shining example of how a community can come together to support a cause that impacts so many.
