From carer to compliance: Amy’s journey with GoodOaks

At GoodOaks, we’re proud of the incredible people who make up our team. This week we’re sharing Amy's journey from carer to compliance officer.

From carer to compliance: Amy’s journey with GoodOaks

Amy’s journey began at the age of 17, when she took on her first role as a carer in a care home.

For 22 years, she provided compassionate care, earning the trust of residents and their families. As her own family grew, Amy balanced her responsibilities at work and at home, working night shifts when her children were young and moving to daytime shifts as they grew older.

But after two decades in care homes, Amy found herself feeling a little disheartened with the environment where “It was starting to feel like the focus was more about money,” Amy wanted to be part of something more meaningful – an environment where the focus was on people and the quality of care, rather than annual turnover.

That’s when she discovered GoodOaks.

A new opportunity

Scrolling through Facebook, Amy came across an advert for GoodOaks that caught her interest. Clicking through to our website, she found a role that seemed like a perfect fit: Quality and Compliance Officer. This role not only offered a new challenge but also allowed Amy to stay connected to the care sector she was so passionate about.

In June 2022, Amy officially joined the GoodOaks team, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Flourishing at GoodOaks

With the support of GoodOaks and our operations director, Amy has thrived in her role. Her deep understanding of care, honed over years of hands-on experience, has been invaluable in ensuring all GoodOaks branches meet the high standards we set for ourselves as well as those set by CQC. Amy’s ability to bring her frontline care experience into her compliance role is one of the reasons she’s been so successful. Her insight ensures that the policies and practices she oversees genuinely support our clients and care teams.
