The recognition comes as a result of their outstanding work in launching and delivering the You Are Not Alone campaign – a heartfelt initiative aimed at supporting unpaid family carers who often go unrecognised while juggling the emotional and physical demands of caring for a loved one.
The campaign, launched in 2024, was built on extensive research and data gathered from over 1,000 family carers. It addressed urgent needs around stress, lack of support, and limited access to information – with over half of respondents reporting they felt unable to meet their own wellbeing needs.
Using this data, the team created practical, easy-to-understand guides, videos, interviews, and downloadable resources, empowering unpaid carers with free advice and support on topics ranging from dementia and self-care to funding and mobility.
The campaign was embedded in the community. Through partnerships with local hospitals, GP surgeries, charities, and press outreach, the team ensured that You Are Not Alone reached the people who needed it most.
“We created You Are Not Alone because we saw just how many people were quietly struggling while caring for someone they love,” said Rachael Dormer, Registered Manager of GoodOaks Bournemouth and Poole. “This campaign has been our way of saying ‘we see you, we hear you, and we’re here to help.’ To be recognised for this work is truly humbling – and it motivates us to keep pushing for real change.”
At GoodOaks, we are committed to innovation that makes a genuine difference. The Bournemouth and Poole team has set a shining example of how creativity, compassion, and community engagement can come together to support those who need it most.
Congratulations to Rachael and the entire Bournemouth and Poole team for this well-deserved recognition – we’ll be cheering you on at the gala dinner in May!
