This new weekly initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting people living with dementia, as well as the families and carers who support them every day.
The Dementia Coffee Club will take place every Friday from 10:00am to 11:30am at THE FBC Cafe, Finchampstead Baptist Church, offering a relaxed, dementia-friendly environment where attendees can enjoy free tea and coffee, meaningful conversation, and trusted support.
A weekly space for connection and support
Living with dementia can often feel isolating, not only for those diagnosed, but also for their carers. The Dementia Coffee Club has been created as a regular, reliable space where people can feel comfortable, understood, and welcomed.
By meeting weekly, the club allows attendees to build familiarity, routine, and confidence. There is no pressure to attend every session, people are welcome to drop in whenever it suits them.
Each session is designed to be calm, friendly, and inclusive, ensuring that everyone feels safe and respected.
Benefits for attendees and carers
Those attending the Dementia Coffee Club can expect:
- A warm, welcoming environment that is dementia-aware and supportive
- Free tea and coffee, encouraging relaxed and informal conversation
- Opportunities to socialise and connect with others who share similar experiences
- Access to friendly, professional advice from experienced care professionals
- Reassurance, understanding, and a sense of community
- For carers, the club offers a chance to speak openly, ask questions, and gain guidance, while knowing their loved one is in a safe and understanding space.
Why this matters to us as a domiciliary care provider
At GoodOaks Homecare Wokingham and Bracknell, we believe high-quality homecare goes far beyond providing practical support. It’s about relationships, trust, and being present in the community.
The Dementia Coffee Club allows us to:
- Build meaningful relationships with local families before care is ever needed
- Better understand the real-life challenges faced by those living with dementia
- Offer early guidance and reassurance, helping people plan with confidence
- Strengthen our role as a trusted local care provider, not just a service
- By creating safe community spaces like this, we can continue to improve the quality, compassion, and relevance of the care we deliver in people’s homes.
