Registered Manager Bushra and our care professionals spent the afternoon with local residents, families and carers. It was a relaxed and friendly session, with people chatting and spending time together.
Supporting people living with dementia in Barnet
The session included a mix of simple, enjoyable activities designed to support people living with dementia and those around them.
A live singer performed well-known songs from popular musicals, which many people recognised and joined in with. It was a lovely way to bring people together and create shared moments.
There was also a seated yoga session, offering gentle movement in a way that was accessible to everyone. It gave people the chance to stretch, relax and focus on their wellbeing at their own pace.
Why dementia cafes matter
Dementia cafes play an important role in the local community. They offer a welcoming space where people living with dementia, along with their families and carers, can spend time together and feel supported.
They also give people the chance to:
- Meet others in a similar situation
- Share experiences in an informal setting
- Take part in activities that support wellbeing
For many families, having somewhere like this to go can make a real difference.
