It’s an exciting new initiative designed to bring together local businesses and charities to share ideas, build connections, and explore ways of working together.
The event was hosted by Adam Downer, Director of GoodOaks Homecare East Dorset, at Barchester Moors Manor in September. Inspired by a conversation with Michael Deane, Chairman of a local dementia charity, the idea for the forum grew out of a shared recognition that businesses and charities across the region could benefit from closer collaboration and support.
The forum provides a space where local organisations can come together to network, share experiences, and discuss challenges such as workforce issues and community engagement. Importantly, the forum is open to all, not just health and social care, and is set to become a regular event in the local business calendar, taking place every eight weeks.
Reflecting on the launch, Adam said: “It was fantastic to get the forum underway. Our aim is to create a welcoming space where businesses and charities of all kinds can connect, support one another, and explore opportunities to collaborate for the benefit of our local community.”
The East Dorset Business Forum will continue to meet regularly, with the hope of bringing more local organisations on board in the coming months. By encouraging collaboration and shared learning, it aims to strengthen the connections between businesses, charities, and the wider community.
