GoodOaks Homecare Woodford Green brings rock ‘n’ roll to the community

GoodOaks Homecare Woodford Green, Waltham Forest and Loughton recently brought music, fun, and community spirit to local elderly residents by sponsoring a special afternoon event at Age UK Waltham Forest.

The highlight of the day was a lively performance from award-winning Elvis tribute artist Sal Bashir, whose energy and talent had more than 60 older guests singing, clapping, and even dancing along to some of Elvis Presley’s greatest hits.

The afternoon was organised in collaboration with Helen Bigham, community fundraiser at Age UK Waltham Forest, and a dedicated team of volunteers. Together, they prepared the venue, served refreshments of tea, coffee, and cake, and ensured that the afternoon was both welcoming and memorable.

Annie Mayet, owner of GoodOaks Homecare Woodford Green, Waltham Forest and Loughton, expressed how meaningful the event was:

“We are passionate about creating moments that matter for older people in our community. Seeing so many of our guests light up with joy during Sal’s performance was incredibly moving, it was everything we hoped for and more.”

Age UK Waltham Forest also acknowledged the impact of the event. Helen Bigham commented:

“Events like this bring such warmth and joy to our members. It was wonderful to see everyone singing, clapping, and even dancing. We’re so thankful to GoodOaks for making it possible.”

Supporting the local community

This event is just one example of the team’s commitment to supporting older people locally. The Woodford Green team regularly invests in community activities, including their popular monthly coffee morning at Belgique coffee shop in Woodford Green. These free gatherings offer refreshments, games, prizes, and plenty of laughter, giving older residents a welcoming space to connect socially.
