Our national campaign is now live: You Are Not Alone

Through partnerships, we aim to empower families and enhance lives, celebrating the joy of staying at home.

national campaign YANA

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new campaign You Are Not Alone that aims to address the lack of information, resources and assistance for individuals needing some extra help to remain independent, and for those caring for them. With our partnership approach, we are seeking to empower families and improve lives by providing essential support and celebrating the joy of staying at home.

The initiative also aims to celebrate and support the quiet, unseen, unheralded commitment that millions of people make daily to their loved ones, and advocate policy changes to better support unpaid carers.

It’s been months in the making and has involved careful planning, filming, research and preparation.

You are not alone

To inform our campaign, we’ve commissioned national polling that has shown the impact caring has on people’s mental health, and the lack of awareness of support options out there. The results are startling. This is being picked up by national media as well as local media, and we’re engaging with our local community and health and social care ecosystem as part of the campaign. Here is a snippet of some of the key findings in the report on wellbeing:

  • Unpaid carers are more than twice as likely to have felt lonely during last week
  • More than half (55%) of unpaid carers feel they aren’t meeting the needs of their own health and wellbeing
  • Younger unpaid carers were most likely to respond that they were ”able to meet the health needs of their loved ones but not their own”
  • 30% feel they can’t maintain the current level of care they are providing their loved ones

As a homecare franchise it’s important that the campaign also emphasises the importance of community and supports people who are navigating the challenges of caregiving.

Backed by our entire franchise network, we are utilising our sector knowledge and experience to provide free information sessions, in depth care guides, interviews with sector experts, local knowledge, advice and care tips.

We have also implemented a helpline at HQ for anyone who needs extra support or has any questions. We are dedicated to helping change the lives of the families in our communities.

Topics covered:

  • Nutrition and hydration
  • Balance and mobility
  • Helpful tools for the home
  • Funding care
  • Dementia are

The campaign has been backed by Damien Green MP, Chair of Health and Social Care Select Committee who said “Many of these unpaid carers do not think of themselves in these terms. They are simply doing their duty, and often demonstrating their love, for their closest companions, whether they are spouses, parents, or near relatives. There are more than ten million of them in this country, and they are some of the quiet heroes of our society. It is relatively easy to estimate the economic benefit they bring to the country. Estimates are that they deliver services that would cost £162 billion if they were provided by professionals, a figure that is more than our annual spend on the NHS.”

GoodOaks Co-Founder, Ben Ashton commented “As a homecare franchise, we understand the stresses, strains, highs and lows, of caring for a loved one. There is no greater privilege and responsibility. We’re on a mission to empower loving, worried families and those looking for care – using our partnership approach and local knowledge to help improve people’s lives and celebrate the joy of being in the home they love.
