With restrictions easing what is the future of care and Covid-19 safety measures?
On August 16th, 2021, Covid-19 restrictions were eased across the UK, with the need to wear masks now not mandated by law in England. With the new easing, we look at what the current guidelines and restrictions are for England and what this means for our live-in and visiting carers. Put simply, Good Oaks Home Care has taken the decision to keep all our Covid-19 safety restrictions in place for the foreseeable future – our measures go above and beyond those recommended at the beginning of the pandemic by both our industry and the Government. We are proud of our track record of keeping people safe and will continue to implement these protocols for the future.
You can read more about our Covid-secure working practices below and how we are helping our carers and clients feel safer and more confident.
What are the current guidelines and restrictions for people in England to protect against Covid? (As of September 2021)
On August 16th the advice from the Government changed:
There are no limits of how many people you can meet.
Facemasks are not legally required but are recommended for public transport. Shops and businesses can still ask you to wear them as part of their requirements of service.
1m social distancing guidance has been removed.
Night clubs have reopened and there are now no limits on the number of people for weddings and events.
Restaurants and cafes are no longer table service only.
Limits on visitors to care homes have been removed.
If you are a fully vaccinated adult and have been in contact with a positive Covid case, you do not need to self-isolate.

What Covid-19 restrictions and precautions are Good Oaks Home Care following?
Since the start of the pandemic, Good Oaks Home Care has put in place Covid-secure protocols to keep all our carers and clients safe. We will be keeping these in place for the foreseeable future to minimise any risk to our clients or carers. These include:
Use of full PPE - including masks, face shields, gloves and aprons
Hand-washing protocols and training
No team meetings to limit potential infections
Extra cleaning of shared and frequently used surfaces
Covid-19 Risk Assessments
Daily temperature checks and weekly PCR Covid tests
Working from home or socially distanced for head office team.
Covid-safe pick-up service for when our carers need to collect more PPE supplies
Carer support service where they can instantly get in touch with the team online to flag up any additional client needs.
Enhanced services for those who are self-isolating or are immune compromised, such as regular phone calls, shopping trips, and picking up prescriptions where needed.
Not for the foreseeable future. While we are hopeful that as a country, and a global population, that we will be through the pandemic soon, our first priority is to keep our clients and carers safe and healthy. So, we will be keeping our Covid protocols in place for the foreseeable future.
