live-in carer

I previously worked as a visiting care professional and saw the difference it made in clients lives. I loved my role but wanted a new challenge and thought working as a live-in care professional would be the perfect balance between trying something new and still using my knowledge and skills I’ve learnt.

Each day is quite different and it really depends on what the client wants to do on the day. I help them get up and ready for the day, prepare breakfast, then I usually try to do a bit of housework before I go on my break. Each day I get a 2 hour break where I usually catch up on my sleep and facetime my family. Each day varies, one day we could be going shopping or going to an appointment and another day I could be helping them stay in contact with their family members, going for a stroll around the garden and chatting at home.

I love that you really get to know the clients, their family members often treat you like an extended member of the family which is such an honour. The working hours work well for me as I work for two weeks then have one week off.

Would this role suit you?

If you have experience of working in the care sector (either professionally or for a family member) and are looking for something new this is a great opportunity for you. You will need to be confident and happy to work alone (although you’re never completely alone as you have a dependable team at your fingertips!)
