\u201cI\u2019ve been in finance pretty much all my working life,\u201d Bee explains. \u201cBanking, corporate roles, that was my world. Care was never something I had considered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like many, Bee\u2019s journey into homecare<\/a> was shaped by personal experience. When her father-in-law became seriously unwell, she saw firsthand the difference great care can make.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe saw everything. Carers who truly cared and made a difference, and others who were just there to do a job. That contrast really stayed with me. It made me think, if I was ever going to do something, it had to have purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n

That moment became a turning point. Alongside her husband, Bee had already been thinking about building a business of their own. This experience gave them clarity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just felt like a calling. I\u2019ve always wanted to do something that makes a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finding the right fit<\/b><\/h2>\n

Like many prospective Franchise Partners, Bee explored different options before choosing GoodOaks Homecare.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe looked at a few care franchises and it just didn\u2019t feel right. They were very sales driven, very focused on money. It didn\u2019t feel like people were at the heart of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her experience with GoodOaks<\/a> was very different.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the very first conversation, it was personable. It was about who we were as people. They genuinely cared about who they were bringing into the business.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe passion I felt was matched. It just felt like the right place to build something.\u201d<\/p>\n

Starting a business with support<\/b><\/h2>\n

Launching a business in a new sector could have been daunting. Bee joined GoodOaks without a care background, but says the training and support made all the difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe onboarding was seamless. The training was intense, but in a good way. It never felt overwhelming and really helped me understand both the theory and practical side of care.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI left training feeling ready. I had the business experience, and GoodOaks gave me the care knowledge and structure to bring it together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Support has continued beyond those early weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone is so approachable. Whether it\u2019s the National Office team or the Founders, you can always pick up the phone. You never feel like you\u2019re on your own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Building something that matters<\/b><\/h2>\n

Now running her South Warwickshire franchise<\/a>, Bee\u2019s focus is clear: delivering high-quality, person-centred care.<\/p>\n

\u201cI genuinely love what I do. It doesn\u2019t feel like work. I care about every client and make sure I\u2019m there for every assessment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bee is quick to highlight the importance of her team, particularly Registered Manager Annette Dixon.<\/p>\n

\u201cHiring Annette was the best decision I\u2019ve made. She\u2019s been incredible, and having the right people around you makes all the difference.\u201d<\/p>\n

One recent experience stands out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a client who was very anxious and had spoken to several care companies. She chose us because we took the time to listen and made her feel at ease. She even waited for us. That meant everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Bee, it is moments like this that define success.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not about growing quickly. It\u2019s about quality. That\u2019s what will set us apart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Like any new business, there have been challenges, particularly around recruitment.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get a lot of applicants, but finding the right people takes time and energy. For me, it\u2019s about maintaining high standards. I don\u2019t want quality to slip.\u201d<\/p>\n

There is also a balance between growth and sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs clients become more independent, that\u2019s a success, but it also means you\u2019re always building the business at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Women in franchising<\/b><\/h2>\n

Bee\u2019s journey reflects a wider shift, with more women exploring business ownership through franchising.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had just had my third child and was coming out of maternity leave. I needed something that gave me purpose, while still being there for my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Franchising, she says, offers that balance.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t have to let go of that part of you that wants to build something. With the right support, you can create something incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her message to other women is simple.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t be afraid to take that leap. You\u2019re part of something bigger, you\u2019ve got the support, the tools, the model. You can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Redefining success<\/b><\/h2>\n

For Bee, success is deeply personal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there are two sides to it. Of course, I want to grow the business and reach more people. But for me, success is about making a real difference.\u201d<\/p>\n

That definition is shaped by her own experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went through those final moments with my father-in-law, and we saw how much it mattered. His only wish was to be at home, surrounded by family, with his granddaughters.\u201d<\/p>\n

She pauses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s all he wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is that memory that continues to drive her.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I can help more people have that, to be at home, comfortable, with the people they love in those moments, then I\u2019ve done what I set out to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
