how would they persuade an amazing Registered Manager to join them, a one-man band, over an established operation with a whole support team underneath them?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And on the face of it, it didn\u2019t necessarily look pretty:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"mso-line-height-rule: exactly;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">They might not be able to pay as much as established rivals<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"mso-line-height-rule: exactly;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">If there were no care pros available to cover a care visit, it\u2019d be RM (and owner!) out of the office with their gloves and aprons on \ud83d\ude2c<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"mso-line-height-rule: exactly;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">There were 0 clients, and 0 care pros on board, and the RM would be expected to get stuck into the hustle of making the phone ring<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"mso-line-height-rule: exactly;-ms-text-size-adjust: 100%;-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">There was no \u2018social proof\u2019 to reassure candidates &#8211; no reviews, no recommendations, no local media coverage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">And to be honest, there will be some people for whom those obstacles are insurmountable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">But that\u2019s not who we\u2019re looking for.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You need to be clear about who you\u2019re looking for, and speak directly to them in your job ads. A little like Shackleton\u2019s ad for his exploration of antarctica; <em>\u201cMen wanted for hazardous journey, small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger, safe return doubtful, honor and recognition in case of success.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Well, maybe toned down a little.
