Good Oaks’ Proprietary Covid-Secure Standard for Infection Control goes above and beyond sector guidelines to ensure the utmost Covid Security.
All good care companies will be following Public Health England’s guidance on domiciliary care, which includes:
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, aprons and masks, and advice on how to safely put on and take off this PPE;
- Following hand-hygiene guidance and protocols
- No team meetings to limit potential infections
- Extra cleaning of shared and frequently used surfaces
- Covid-19 Risk Assessments
We, however, believe we can go further than this guidance, and are proud that our Covid-Secure Standard goes further than PHE guidance and the standard home care response to Covid.
This Standard has been developed in consultation with specialists from NHS 111, and District Nurses to ensure a clinical basis for our extra interventions.
Choosing a Covid-Secure Care Agency has really reassured me and my family that my care is in the best hands possible given the current circumstances.more testimonials
Covid-Secure Standard Includes:
DAILY TEMPERATURE CHECKS
Daily Carer Temperature Checks such as those at Airports and other institutions provide reassurance that they are well before every shift.
Because a high temperature is a key Covid-19 symptom this measure will help keep our clients safe by catching any potential infection early.more >
COVID SECURE ASSESSMENTS
We reduce the risks of the initial assessment by getting information
remotely where possible, via telephone conversations and using our cloud-based care management system.
It is important we meet every client before they start their care with us, but we ensure we keep a safe distance, and minimise the time physically spent with you.
Please don’t be offended if we don’t shake your hand!more >
FACE SHIELDS UPON REQUEST
If you need extra peace of mind, maybe because you are immunosuppressed or for other reasons, our Carers can wear Face Shields as well as their usual PPE.
You just need to ask.more >
LONGER LIVE-IN CARE PLACEMENTS
By prolonging placement lengths where appropriate, we have reduced handovers by 50% since Covid, reducing chances of infection.
This is organised with careful consultation with the client and their family members to minimise disruption and to ensure the quality of the care is the standard expected of us.more >
CODE OF CONDUCT
Staff sign up to our Covid Code of Conduct ensuring they take care and remain alert outside of work.
It provides a common-sense rulebook to ensure there are no weak links in our fight against Covid.more >
